‘Sister Act’ moved to 2022 without Whoopi Goldberg performing

The musical revival will still take place at the Eventim Apollo.

As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the London revival of Sister Act has been postponed for another year, with performances now taking place in 2022. Consequently, Whoopi Goldberg will no longer be playing Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act, with new casting to be announced.

Speaking about her unavailability to star in Sister Act, Whoopi Goldberg said: "Sister Act is near and dear to my heart and I'm disappointed that I will be unable to perform in this production under the circumstances. However, my producing partners and I will continue to work towards mounting a fantastic production, with an amazing new cast and we look forward to presenting it when it can be done safely for everyone onstage, behind the scenes and in the audience."

Sister Act will now take place at the Eventim Apollo next summer, with performances from 19 July - 28 Aug. 2022. If you have booked for Sister Act starring Whoopi Goldberg with LondonTheatre.co.uk, our customer services team will be in touch.

All casting for the London run of Sister Act will be announced in the future. Previously, Jennifer Saunders was attached to play Mother Superior, with Clive Rowe as Eddie Souther.

The upcoming revival of Sister Act is reworked, with Deloris Van Cartier now played by an older woman. Songs in Sister Act include "Fabulous Baby" and "Take Me To Heaven".

Sister Act is now at the Eventim Apollo from 19 July - 28 Aug. 2022.
